What I’ve been listening to:
Definitely not a new song, but i only discovered it recently when one of the firefighters sang it during a k-session. I really like the melody, especially the angst-ridden part just before the chorus. Lee Sheng Jie has a nice voice, but i think kz nailed the song far better. He just has this my-heart-is-broken-please-hug-me quality in his voice. So yeah, Lee Sheng Jie has someone else to thank for introducing his song to more:p
I am reminded of Gary Cao Ge’s Bei Pan/背叛 (https://aserendipitiouslife.wordpress.com/2008/01/21/gary-cao-ges-bei-pan%e8%83%8c%e5%8f%9b%e3%80%80/). The song was a virtual unknown (at least to me) until Yang Zong Wei sang it during Xing Guang Da Dao and then all of a sudden, it was a big hit. Gary Cao benefitted from Yang Zong Wei’s flawless rendition of his song.
When things like that happen in life, should you be happy? If you become rich/famous/popular by association, should you be thankful for the opportunity and then strive hard to make full use of what you have been given? Or should you be secretly resentful and then spend the rest of your life trying to outshine whoever bestowed you with your big break?
